Little meows about Pet Insurance

Kitties, do you know what an ultra-sound is? I need to get one done on Thursday. Did you know that an ultrasound on kitties costs about A$600... and that drip that was given to me lately, costed another A$400... Mama says it is only a small cost, because what is most important to her is that I am healthy and well.

My humans seem rather smug about the fact that they had taken up the ‘Pet Insurance’ for me; otherwise- these costs would have still incurred, but it would have been much more difficult for my humans to get by... Just to satisfy my kitty curiosity- what about you kitties though? Do you have a health insurance, too?

If you are interested to know or considering it- my insurance costs my humans a A$34 a month which is A$408 a year and includes treatment costs up to A$12,000 in a year- including routine check-ups, costs of ‘revolution’, vaccination (A$70 a year) and grooming. They pay for the expenses using their card and the insurance company reimburses them in a few weeks. Mama will be happy to advise if your humans are considering taking one up for you- she only knows about Australian options, but is eager to help if you’d need advise...

I hear their card expenses are EXPLODING LOUDLY till the insurance company pays them back in a few weeks, but it is a ‘temporary’ thing and you kitties need not worry... phew!

On a related note- those green papers seem powerful; I have a feeling that those not exactly the kinds of papers kitties ‘play’ with... or do they? Have any of you kitties played with these green papers and want to share the story?

You have very smart humans to get pet insurance on you! Since there are so many of us here on The Creek, mom said there's no way she'd be able to pay the premiums, but if there were less of us, she would definitely get insurance.
So glad you are feeling better, sweetie!

Our mum has pet insurance for us - she has never done it for the cats that came before but as we were rescued from a house with over 100 cats she was worried what we might have been infected with things that hadn't shown up when we were adopted.
Our payment is just under £23.00 per month for the two of us and the cover is £6000.00 per annum for each of us with an excess of £65.00 to be deducted from each claim. It also covers a microchip search if we went missing plus advertising and reward, holiday cancellation, complementary health treatment.
When Hannah was ill she had two xrays which cost £203.41 our vet filled in the claim form and mailed it 7th July and we received our refund 2 weeks later less the excess.
Mum is happy as with paying the premium monthly she says she doesn't miss it.

I am an old kitty. So it would be a good idea to take out health insurance. Would you please let my SS know about yours, since we are both Aussie kitties? My email address is momoandco at gmail dot com.

That photo of you is gorgeous!!!

Get well soonest.

After our mom adopted Derry back in December 2007, she was about to sign us all up for pet insurance, was ready to "click" to submit the on-line form, but read the fine print that states we all needed to be vaccinated yearly. Well, our human does believe in vaccinating kittens, but doesn't believe in yearly vaccinations for *indoor* house cats--the chances of a vaccine-related sarcoma are far higher than contracting any disease, particularly with the rabies vaccine. So that was it for pet insurance. And of course they don't cover pre-existing conditions, which lets Annie out now anyway, with her hyper-t.

I would love to carry pet insurance, but with 12 kitties the cost is too much...When Felix and Grayce has their surgeries earlier this year we put it on plastic, an I worked overtime to pay it off. Thankfully our vet works with us on pricing.

That is a great picture of you, and my sisters and I are sending you mega-purrs. We don't have insurance either, but it sure is something to think about.

Wonderful picture! Right now mama is having problems with her own insurants, so I don't have any. It would be nice, as I am getting on in years, but not affordable for us right now. Mama regrets this very much, but can only stretch the budget so far. She is kinda scared for me, too.

Hi Sherkhan! We are behind in visiting so first we wanted to send you purrs and prayers to feel better soon!

We don't have pet insurance - but we are like the Katnip Lounge - with 6 of us it isn't cost effective. But we think it is great if you can find a good one - we have heard stories that are both good and bad - yours sounds really good!

Hi Sherkhan

What a beautiful portrait of you. You are of course stunning but your Mom is talented with her camera.

There are 5 of us so Momma doesn't have insurance for us.

Sherkhan,

Our Mom thinks you have the most beautiful blue eyes!! We are very glad that your humans aren't going to be hurting for green papers with the pet insurance. Our Mom has considered getting it for us, but hasn't gotten around to it since money is so scarce... Ironic, isn't it??

Please keep us updated on anything the v-e-t finds on the ultrasound (hopefully they won't find anything!!)

Have a happy Monday!!
